Airport Overview

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is a surprisingly busy transport hub, providing transit to nearly eight million passengers each year, and offering convenient connections between ‘middle America’ and various coastal and southern destinations, including Atlanta, Orlando, Los Angeles and New York.

Flights to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport are mainly provided by Delta Airlines, who offer 145-165 flights out of the airport every day. The airport is 13 miles (about 20km) from downtown Cincinnati and easily accessed.

An airport quite low on facilities and amenities (it’s not the most entertaining airport you’ll ever visit), Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is nonetheless a convenient place to transit through, boasting minimal waiting times and easy transportation routes into downtown Cincinnati.

Terminal Transfer

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport consists of three terminal buildings and three concourses. A free underground tram service (running every 90 seconds) and complimentary shuttle-buses connect the terminal buildings and the parking areas.

Getting into Town

Airport taxis: A 24-hour taxi cab service is available at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. You can either approach the desk at baggage claim in Terminal 3, or use the courtesy phone at baggage claim in Terminal 2 to reserve a taxi. There is a fixed fee of $27 from the airport to downtown Cincinnati – and the trip should take a maximum of half an hour to complete.

Bus: A public bus service between the airport and downtown Cincinnati is provided by the Transit Authority of North Kentucky (TANK). Buses operate daily between 5am and midnight, and leave from outside the baggage reclaim area in Terminal 3. Fares start at $1.25, and the following destinations form part of the downtown route: Great American Ball Park, Paul Brown Stadium, Northern Kentucky University, The Florence Mall, Main Strasse Village, The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Newport on the Levee and the Newport Aquarium.

Shuttle: Executive Transport provides good-value shuttle-bus services from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. You are advised to reserve these shuttles 24 hours in advance, but you are also more than welcome to obtain walk-up service from any of the desks (located in the baggage claim area of all three terminals). The shuttles cost just $20 to Covington or into the downtown area ($30 round-trip).

Car Parking

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has a wealth of parking options: the Cell Phone Lot, AutoPort Garage, ValuPark and Curbside Valet. The complimentary Cell Phone Lot has enough spaces for drivers waiting to pick up arriving passengers. Space is reserved for the quick loading and unloading of passengers and goods only – unattended vehicles will be towed away. The well-lit, secure, accessible AutoPort Garage costs $3 for the first hour, $2 for the next 30 minutes, and $1 for each additional 30 minutes thereafter (which a maximum daily rate of $13). The ValuPark lot – located a distance from the terminal buildings, but connected by a free shuttle service – is an ideal choice for long-term parking, charging $2 for up to 4 hours, $3 for the next 4 hours, and with a maximum charge of $7 per day. The Curbside Valet service costs $18 per day, with partial days starting at $8.

Information Desks

There are good information booths located in Concourses A and C; while in Concourse B and in the baggage claim area of Terminal 3, Airport Ambassadors are around and on-hand to provide you with information and assistance.
