I was traveling with my father, who had wheelchair service, he was brought to the gate to wait for boarding. When Pre-boarding began, the agent started with individuals with disabilities or who needed assistance, it wasn't even 2-3 seconds, the next pre-boarding status was announced - active duty personnel - what made it worse, was that nobody came to either push the wheelchair or assist my father. so I had to help my father up and through the line, where there was already a line. So I wasn't sure what was the purpose of the pre-boarding, if there wasn't any order to it. Thankfully, it was the first time we've experienced this, hopefully, it's the last.

Scranton is one of the largest cities in the State of Pennsylvania. It is the cultural center of the Lackawanna River Valley, and has been in existence since 1866. The town gets its name from Selden and George Scranton, brothers who built the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western railroad. In the 1880s, the town became the Electric City, when the first streetcar system was established there. This is why the Electric City Trolley Museum is one of its major attractions, today. Visitors can view restored trolley cars and interurban trams, and also see them in operation.
The city is home to the Houdini Museum, the only museum in the world that is dedicated to the famous magician. Visitors can see a display of Houdini memorabilia, and also experience a magic tour. Another spine-tingling attraction is the Scranton Ghost Walk. It happens 365 days of the year, at 7.45 pm and takes visitors through the more historic parts of the city. The Everhart Museum of Natural Science, History & Art, has extensive ethnographic, fossil and painting collections. The Montage Mountain ski resort is a major attraction for fans of winter sport, and has Pennsylvania’s longest snowtubing trails, 2 terrain parks and 26 trails.
In January, Scranton has an average temperature of 25 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes it ideal for a ski vacation. The average temperature in July, the warmest month of the year, is 71 degrees. The state schools are closed throughout the Christmas period but open again in early January, which makes this the ideal time for skiers to go there. However, the schools do close for a week in either February or March, which can mean higher prices and resorts over-run with young skiers. Though it is a multicultural city, Scranton has a significant Irish population, reflected by the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade every March, while the Steamtown Marathon attracts visitors in October.
Interstate 80, 81 and 84, serve road travel into the city, with private coach companies traveling to larger cities. Travel within the city is available from a network of private taxis, which can be booked by telephone. Public transport is provided by companies that run a network of buses in the city, and also to smaller towns like Carbondale and Daleville. Because of its history, rail transport is extensive within Scranton, with seasonal excursions on steam trains, passenger services within in the city and rail connections to New Jersey and other states.

If you plan on traveling with children to Scranton and you plan on renting a car upon your arrival, remember that in Pennsylvania, child seat laws dictate that the use of child passenger restraint systems is mandatory and depends on the child's age and size. For infants and toddlers up to 2 years old, a rear-facing child safety seat placed in the back seat is required. Preschool-aged children, from 2 to 4 years old, must be securely fastened in a federally approved child booster seat in the back seat. School-aged children between 4 and 8 years old should use a booster seat if they've outgrown their forward-facing car seat's weight or height limits, still placed in the back seat.
