Located along the banks of the James River, Lynchburg is a city which was first settled in 1757. The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company operates a frequent bus service around the city. However, there are also several private taxi companies located in the city, and an intercity rail network for traveling to surrounding destinations, such as Charlotte or Richmond.
