Are there currently restrictions on travel to Guayaquil related to COVID-19?

Yes, there are currently restrictions on flights to Guayaquil along with the rest of Ecuador. Before you book or search for flights, consider the following restrictions: Flights to Ecuador have now resumed. Travelers must present a completed Health Form and a completed Immigration form as well as a negative PCR test for COVID-19 issued within 10 days of arrival. Travelers without a qualifying test result will be tested upon arrival. Arriving travelers with a valid test certificate no longer need to enter quarantine unless they present symptoms of coronavirus. Those without one will be tested and sent to quarantine while awaiting results and until receiving a negative testing result. More information is available here. Special 'travel corridors' exist for tourists visiting the Galapagos. Foreigners wishing to enter the islands must present a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19, taken 96 hours prior to the date of departure to Ecuador. On arrival in Ecuador, tourists may be requested to take another PCR test, at their own expense. Tourists must also present a return flight and a safe passage document (‘salvoconducto’) issued by the Ministry of Tourism to be exempt from doing 14 days of self-isolation on the islands. The tour operators or hotels are responsible for arranging this safe passage document on behalf of tourists, given that visitors are required to have previous contracted travel and accommodation arrangements. The Galapagos Transit Control Card, will need to be filled out online at least 24 hours before the flight. On arrival in Ecuador you will be required to fill in a Health Status Declaration, including a local address. Travel health insurance is mandatory for foreign tourists. . Best Time to Fly to Guayaquil

This region has a dry and hot, tropical climate, and two defined seasons. The dry season in the region runs from May to December, and this is also the foggy time of the year, so not the best for water activities and views. The wet season runs from January to April and this is also the sunny season. The rain in the area can occasionally be very heavy. July to January is the most temperate months in the city.

Since the dry season can also be very foggy, this is sometimes a quieter time in the city. Late spring, summer and early fall are often very busy times to visit Guayaquil. Once the rainy season begins, tourism quiets down and this is when cheaper rates on hotels and airfares can be found. The Christmas season is a busy time in the region so if you don’t enjoy crowds, it is best to avoid it during the festive holiday. Prices are likely to be much higher during this time.
