Getting around Trondheim

Trondheim has a good network of local buses that operate for a reasonable fee. In addition to this, there are special coaches which will take you to key attractions, such as the Bishops’ Palace Museum. A very popular way of getting around the city is by bike, and there are bikes that you can hire for the duration of your stay if you like. Hiring a bike will also enable you to avoid the car parking charges that apply on almost all of the streets in the city centre. Hiring a car is another great option for travelling in this city, as it enables you to explore further afield too. For instance, you could pack a picnic in the boot and take a day trip down to the coast if you wanted.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Once your flight to Trondheim Airport (TRD) arrives you will be located around 22 miles (35 km) from the city centre. Transport in Norway is generally very good, and hire cars, local taxis, and shuttle buses are all on hand to take the short drive from the airport to the centre of Trondheim. The airport also has its own train station, Værnes station, which is located right inside the terminal complex, and which offers regular trains that will take you to Trondheim’s town centre railway station.
