Why did my flight take off an hour late - almost missed my connecting flight in Taipei - had to run across the airport there and made my flight by about 6 minutes. Too much stress to start a vacation with. The on-board entertainment system was surprisingly good and the food also quite good. Still, except for going home, I don’t think I will take a 14 hour light again.

Travelers who are planning a trip to Manila from the USA can choose from a wide selection of airports to start the trip. Honolulu International Airport is one option that is one of the busiest airports in the USA with 21 million passengers each year. This airport is the main hub for Hawaiian Airlines and offers flights to many different countries. Other departure cities include San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City. Passengers will land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport which is five miles from Manila. This is a hub for Philippines AirAsia, Cebu Pacific, and PAL Express.
There are several options for direct, nonstop flights that land straight in Manila. Direct flights from Honolulu are offered by KLM, while passengers departing in San Francisco or Los Angeles will take a Philippine Airlines flight. John F. Kennedy International Airport also has flights nonstop into Manila through Philippine Airlines. In addition to these direct flights, there are many stopover flights from these cities and others. Some of the options out of New York City that have stops along the way include Qatar Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and China Airlines.
When leaving from JFK International Airport into Manila, there are many possible areas your flight will stop on the way. These include locations such as Dubai Airport, Seoul Incheon International Airport, and Taipei Taiwan Taoyuan Airport. Travelers who choose to leave out of Seattle / Tacoma International Airport may board flights with at least one stop on the way to Manila. Stopover points on these flights include places like Shanghai Pu Dong Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Tokyo Narita Airport. Typically the flights with two stops are less expensive than those that only come down at one location before reaching the destination.
When flying from the USA into Manila, passengers need a valid passport for the duration of the stay. There is no need for a visa, but you must have a return ticket ready.
If you’re looking for sustainable travel methods on a trip to Manila from the US, some of the best airlines for this trip include United Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and American Airlines. Turkish Airlines has created a training program for its more than 60,000 staff members on all aspects of environmental awareness. American Airlines offers passengers a program to calculate their emissions during travel, then buy carbon offsets through a program called Cool Effect. United Airlines takes measures such as reducing weight on flights, taxiing with one engine, towing aircraft rather than using engines to move them, and continually washing aircraft engines to reduce drag and emissions.
One of the best ways to become a more eco-friendly traveler on your trip from the US to Manila is by utilizing public transportation to and from the airport. In Boston, for example, you can take the Silver Line bus and the Blue Line train from several points in the city to the airport. In Atlanta, you can park your car at a MARTA station and then ride the train to the airport. At the Manila airport, Line 1 of the light rail transit system will take you downtown from the airport. If you're looking to take a tour of Manila and the surrounding area, do your best to try to find local eco-friendly tour companies. If you are staying in a hotel in Manila, hang up your towels after using them rather than getting new ones every day, bring your own toiletries along, and keep the "do not disturb" sign on the door to reduce unnecessary cleaning of your room during you stay.
