Citizens of the United States must apply for a visa upon arrival. This is only available at the International Airport in Ascunción and can be quite expensive, ranging from USD $100 to $160 depending upon the length of the visa. Typically a visa is 90 days and a traveler must have a valid passport, good for at least six months after the date of arrival. It is also advisable to carry ID and other travel documents during a stay.
