Javea Travel Information

• The attractive main beach El Arunel is surrounded by rocks and coves.  Low rise accommodation means that the town still feels like a town. 
• In Spanish, the town's name is  written “Xabia”.
• This used to be a regular base for pirates and smugglers who hid their contraband among the rocky coves. Above the doors of the fortified church you will see spaces where the inhabitants could throw missiles on to their attackers. 
• Stand at the seafront and see real “old-fashioned” windmills.  They are more attractive than their aerodynamically superior windfarm cousins, but some of their charm may come from the fact they are ruined.
