Airport Overview

There aren’t many direct flights to Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), in fact you can only fly directly from Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Memphis and Charlotte. Despite this, Mobile Regional is a busy little airport with more than 50 daily flights.

You may expect that a small airport like this would offer bargain fares, but that isn’t the case with Mobile Regional. As no low-cost carriers such as JetBlue or Southwest operate from the airport, the fares tend to be higher than nearby Pensacola Regional Airport.

The facilities at Mobile Regional are basic, with only a couple of restaurants and newsstands to keep passengers entertained between flights. A lack of entertainment and children’s amenities make it a less-than-ideal airport for stopovers. Still, if you do fly into Mobile Regional Airport, you can expect a warm Southern welcome from the friendly and helpful staff.

Terminal Transfer

There is only one terminal, so you can walk from one gate to another.

Getting into Town

Train: There is no train service to the airport.

Bus: There is no bus service. There are airport shuttles available for $18 per person to downtown Mobile, or $13 to the cruise terminal.

Taxi: There are many taxi companies offering service from Mobile Regional Airport, including Yellow Cab, Allied Taxicabs and Elite Taxi, among others. There are taxis available outside the arrivals hall, but if there aren’t any available a Customer Service Agent can call one for you. Car Parking

Short-term parking is charged at $1 per hour with an $8 daily maximum, and long-term parking is $1 per day with a $6 daily limit. There is free parking (for 30 minutes) in both short and long-term car parks. Valet parking is also available for $2 per hour or $12 per day.

Conference and business: The Executive Club has business services including televisions, snacks and beverages, phones, work areas with data ports and newspapers. You can get a day pass for $10. If you come through this airport often, consider getting a year-long membership for $50. Various business rooms are available for up to 50 people. Charges start at $15 per hour.

Other facilities: The airport has handicapped facilities.

Wi-Fi: There is free Wi-Fi available in the terminal.

Shopping: There’s not much in the way of shopping at the airport – just a couple of outlets of Hudson News, where you can’t get much more than a magazine or newspaper. As the airport has no international flights, there is no duty-free shopping either.

Food and drink: There are limited food options at Mobile Regional Airport. Before security you’ll find a Quizno’s Sub Shop, Chart Room Bar and Carpe Diem Coffee Service. After you go through security there is another Carpe Diem Coffee and Tea Service, and a Cruise City Bar and Grill.
