In BC I ordered the special “meat” meal and it was good. Usually the food in BC is not very good. In smaller planes the space in BC is a bit cramped. The Passport Control in Lisboa is terrible! A disaster! We will not be flying through Lisboa again. Because of Passport Control we missed our flight and had to make an expensive re-booking and overnight stay! Nevertheless, until the day of the flight, I received emails telling me that my ongoing flight from Lisboa to Valencia had been changed. Even though the whole itinerary had been cancelled due to the missed flight! We had had several TAP flights before, but we probably will not in the future.

FAQs about flying to Seville

Seville, Spain climate

Seville, the capital city of Spain’s southernmost province, Andalucía, experiences hot summers and mild winters that the region is famous for. Fall and winter bring about plenty of rain and cooler temperatures, averaging around 40 degrees F in January, but this is also the best time to book cheap flights to Seville. With springs and summers that draw tourists in flocks courtesy of the cloudless skies and comfortable weather, you should try to make reservations months in advance if you’re looking for a cheap flight to Seville during the hotter months.

Best Time to Fly to Seville, Spain

Be it during the chilly winter months or the height of the steamy Andalusian summer, there’s no wrong time to book your flight to Seville.

Peak Season: Seville is one of the most popular cities in Spain because of its elaborate street processions and festivals. Booking your flight to Seville during the early Spring will place you in the capital of Southern Spain at its busiest time of year, but it’s a good idea to book in advance and reserve Seville flights and hotel accommodations months before travel.

Off-peak Season: The chance of dreary weather looming over Seville from late autumn until spring may discourage tourists from traveling to the south of Spain, and for this reason cheap flights to Seville are easier to find. There’s still plenty to do in Seville, rain or shine, so take advantage of the lull in tourism to check out one of Spain’s most popular destinations.

Getting around Seville, Spain

Stretch your legs after your cheap flight to Seville by setting out to explore the city on foot. Seville is a walkable city, but it also has a very dependable network of buses and trains. The metro system started running in 2007. If you’re going to use the bus and metro often, buy a bonobús pass, available at newsstands and tobacco shops, to save money.

Seville, Spain Travel Information

  • If you’re looking for something to listen to on your iPod during your flight to Seville, download a recording of George Bizet’s infamous opera, Carmen. The opera chronicles the conquests and conflicts of Carmen, a cigarrera who made her living hand-rolling cigars in 19th century Seville. The cigar factory where Carmen works was based on the Royal Factory of Seville, which was the world’s biggest tobacco factory and is now home to the University of Seville.
  • Like Granada and Córdoba, Seville’s history as a former Moorish stronghold is proudly displayed by its well-preserved ruins and the influence of Islamic architecture. Two of Seville’s most popular attractions, the Torre del Oro (“Tower of Gold”) and the Alcazar, were constructed by the Moors as part of their fortress and fortification. The Cathedral of Seville, which is the largest in Spain and the third largest cathedral in the world, is unique in that it also credits the architectural influence of the Moors. The Almohad Mosque was demolished so that the cathedral could be built on its grounds, and the minaret from the mosque, known as La Giralda, is the only remnant of the original structure that was incorporated into the construction of the cathedral. Visitors can climb up the stairs to the top of La Giralda for a sprawling view of the city that they’ll remember long after their Seville flight departs for home.
  • The stunning surroundings of Plaza de España may look familiar if you were browsing through your guide book on your cheap flight to Seville, but the buildings of Maria Luisa Park have also been used most recently as the backdrop for scenes in George Lucas’ famous motion picture “Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones”. These impressive structures were built when Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929, and since then the local government has set up shop in the building’s tiled, arched hallways. Because of Plaza de Espana’s popularity with tourists, gypsies tend to mosey around the park: Keep your wits about you and your belongings to avoid an instance of petty crime, and remember that a firm ¡déjeme tranquilo! (“leave me alone!”) will suffice in discouraging pushy vendors and gypsies.
  • If you’re hoping to catch one of Spain’s most famous festivals during your stay, be sure to book your Seville flight and hotel accommodations for a week or two in the month of April. You won’t likely find cheap flight to Seville during this peak tourist time, but it’s worth a visit to experience Semana Santa (Holy Week). The festival usually falls in early April, draws crowds from all over Spain to see the daily processions that take place from Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday. The Feria de Abril takes place towards the end of April, and the hub of the festival lies in the brightly colored casetas (tents) that set up shop on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. The feria (festival) began as an agricultural fair in the 19th century, but since then the festival has grown into a massive celebration of all things Andalucía with flamenco, fine cuisine, and wine-induced revelry in the streets lasting until the early hours of the morning.
