When is the best time to fly to Puerto Del Rosario?

To experience the city at its vibrant best, take a flight to Puerto del Rosario in mid-February, during Carnival Week. Highlights include the street party the night before Carnival Tuesday, the crowning of the Carnival Queen on stage in the Recinto Ferial and a grand parade on the last Saturday. Also not to be missed is Los Achipencos, a hectic race across the harbour in comical homemade craft that takes place on the first Sunday of Carnival. Puerto del Rosario is hottest from July to September, with average temperatures of 26-28°C, but the thermometer rarely dips below 21°C at any time of year. Bad weather is unlikely to be a problem, with only December experiencing anything like heavy rainfall. There are some great deals, even during holiday periods, and you should have no problem finding cheap flights to Puerto del Rosario that suit both your budget and your schedule.

City overview

Book a cheap flight to Puerto del Rosario, capital of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands. Perhaps the best reason for visiting the city is that it's an excellent base of operations for exploring the island's many resorts and its over 120 miles (200 km) of beaches. Blessed with guaranteed sun, Fuerteventura is a great holiday location for watersports enthusiasts, be it snorkelling in the waters that are a balmy 18-20°C all year round, or taking advantage of the trade winds that blow steadily across the island to get in some world class surfing and kiteboarding. If you just want to kick back and relax, then Caleta de Fuste, 20 minutes from Puerto del Rosario by the island's reliable bus service, offers a sheltered cove, soft golden sand and a cafe on the beach. The city's original name, Puerto del Cabras - Port of Goats - points to the fact that its past hasn't always been that glamorous, but in recent times Puerto del Rosario has become more tourist-friendly, with the seafront undergoing extensive refurbishment. Its main beach, Playa Blanca, has been awarded a Blue Flag and is good for surfing. Behind the harbour is the city's old quarter, a collection of picturesque whitewashed lanes, while the street cafes on the Primero de Mayo provide a vantage point for watching the world go by and taking in the city's architecture. On the south side of the city is a modern shopping centre well stocked with many brands.

Getting around Puerto del Rosario
