There are currently restrictions on flights to Varna along with the rest of Bulgaria. Before you book or search for flights, consider the following restrictions:
Entry restrictionsBulgaria has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not nationals or family members of nationals of the European Union, the Schengen Agreement States (including San Marino, Andorra, Monaco and Vatican City).
Nationals of the UK, Albania, Australia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Georgia, Israel, Japan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Moldova, Montenegro, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE, and Uruguay may also enter the country.
Entry requirementsAll travelers must present a medical certificate with a negative PCR test result issued within 72 hours prior to arrival. The Bulgarian border authorities must be presented with a document showing a negative result, written in the Latin method (PCR), which contains the names of the person according to the identity document with which he travels, data about the laboratory that performed the test, and the date on which the PCR test was performed.
Quarantine requirementsTravelers who do not have a negative PCR test performed in the last 72 hours will be required to self-isolate at home for 10 days.
Bulgarian citizens, residents, and their immediate family members may opt to undertake a mandatory 10-day quarantine period upon arrival to Bulgaria in lieu of providing evidence of a negative PCR test result.
The option of a 10 day quarantine on arrival, in lieu of a PCR test for people legally resident in Bulgaria, can be shortened if they present a negative PCR test performed within 24 hours of arriving in Bulgaria. The quarantine requirement will be revoked within 24 hours of submitting the document demonstrating the negative PCR test result.
Transiting rulesNationals and long-term residents of the EU, Schengen countries, or the UK and their family members may transit through Bulgaria to their country of residence, and nationals of North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, or Turkey can transit to return to the country of which they are nationals. Transit is only permitted when the traveler will immediately depart Bulgaria.
All other infoBulgarian passports and national ID cards which have expired on or after March 13, 2020 will be considered valid with a prolongation of 6 months.
