we travelled with the air bus to dubai, which was around 8 hours. then for the 19 hour flight, we had to travel with the smaller plane, which was just ridicilous.

New York City is one of the most common places to leave from when going to Dubai from the US. New York LaGuardia, New York John F. Kennedy International, and New York Newark are all available for flights into Dubai. Passengers also often leave for Dubai from Los Angeles International Airport. The airport most travelers will fly into is Dubai International Airport. It is located about three miles from the city and is one of the most popular airports in the world. Some of the major carriers offering flights to Dubai include Qantas, Air Canada, and British Airlines.
There are several flights that can be taken directly from the USA to Dubai and a number of them originate in New York City. JetBlue and Emirates offer these flights which are 12h 30m-12h 45m in duration. Most of the flights are from JFK International but some also start in Newark. Los Angeles International Airport also has many flights that go nonstop and direct into Dubai. These flights are offered by Emirates Airlines and are typically around 15h 50m in duration. While direct flights are often shorter than stopover flights, most of them are going to be more expensive.
From Los Angeles, there are also a huge number of stopover flights that touch down in one or two cities before reaching Dubai. Some of the flights come down in Seattle / Tacoma International Airport, London Heathrow Airport, and Bahrain Airport. Flights can be as quick as 18h 50m but the quickest flights are also the most expensive. There are also stopover flights out of several airports in New York City. Emirates Airlines, Gulf Air, and Saudia Airlines are a few of the options. The stopovers may be in locations like Athens International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport, or Milan Malpensa Airport.
Each passenger going to the United Arab Emirates must have a passport which is valid for at least six months after the end of a traveler’s stay. A visa and a return ticket are also required.
While it may seem difficult to employ sustainable travel methods when making a long journey to Dubai from the US, there are certainly plenty of things you can do to be a more environmentally conscious traveler. Start by choosing an eco-friendly airline. On this route, American Airlines and United Airlines are very environmentally friendly. Since 2013, American Airlines has added almost 600 new aircraft to their fleet while retiring well over 600. Each of these new airplanes offer an improvement in fuel efficiency over the older models by about 10 to 15 percent. United Airlines’ goal is be 100% green by 2050, which they plan on doing without relying on any type of traditional carbon offsets. Instead, they will do things like investing in sustainable aviation fuel and carbon capture and sequestration programs.
One of the best ways you can travel in a more eco-friendly way is to think about your transportation to the airport before your trip to Dubai from the US. Most major cities in the US offer public transportation options that get travelers from the center of a city to the airport in a more fuel-efficient way per passenger. Several US cities have light rail options that are incredibly fuel-efficient and create lower emissions than travelers going to the airport in a car by themselves. When traveling to a country like Dubai, you can expect a rather warm environment, so you may end up drinking quite a bit of water. Help the environment by bringing a reusable water bottle with you on your trip and save the use of several plastic water bottles, which create tremendous waste in the environment and use a large amount of energy to recycle.
