St Anton Flights and Travel Guide

First-class skiing abounds at St. Anton, one of Austria's most visited resorts and only a short distance from Austria's Lech and Zurs resorts. Mostly frequented by British travelers, snow-lovers ski top-notch slopes arranged for the best-of-the-best. Intermediate and advanced skiers will find much to do from a vacation in St. Anton, but beginners beware: this is not the mountain for you. Novice and non-skiers can take advantage of St. Anton's many off-slope activities.

St. Anton is a must-ski destination for top skiers looking for excellent off-piste runs. After a good turn on the mountain, snow-bunnies and ski moguls head to one of St. Anton's bars, which are usually packed by mid-afternoon.

St Anton Insider Information

• The 2001 World Alpine Championships were held here which tells you this is a place that challenges expert skiers. Off-piste is awesome and it can pay to get a group together and hire a guide.
• The pistes challenge all abilities, and there is a good mogul field called the Kandahar.(factoid: the original moguls in India came from Kandahar which is why mogul fields are often called Kandahar.)
• Go to the Ahlberg Hotel, which is right next to the Nasserein gondola, to experience a family run hotel that was here when this was just a traditional Alpine village.  Even before Franz Klammer, the ski god of the 1970s put Austrian skiing on the international map.
