Mobile boarding passes and priority boarding

Online check-in is available from 24 hours up to 45 minutes before scheduled departure. You can download and print out your boarding pass through the main page of the website or use the Allegiant Air mobile app downloadable here.

For added peace of mind before you fly, check out Cheapflights.com’ guide to 10 things to do before your flight.

Priority boarding

Allegiant Air offers the optional Priority Access upgrade which gives passengers the opportunity to board the plane before other passengers. The cost is between $4 and $12.

Flying with children

Passengers older than two years must have their own seat and be accompanied by a fare paying customer aged over 15. Two booking options are available for children aged between 15 days and 24 months:

  • Either as a ticketed passenger seated in an FAA-approved car seat or.
  • As a lap child on the seat of an adult on the same reservation.

Note that you will need to show proof of age for lap children. Passengers under 18 years old may use other documentation which includes their birth date such as a birth certificate. Passengers without government-issued identification may be required to undergo additional security screening. Each fare-paying passenger traveling with a child may travel with a diaper bag at no charge. The diaper bag will not count as your personal item or carry-on luggage.

Seating for infants and children

Small children weighing under 40 pounds should be secured in an FAA-approved car seat or harness-type device when traveling by air. Approved car seat style child restraint systems will have one or more of the following labels:

  • The FMVSS.213 insignia.
  • Language indicating that they are certified or approved for use in motor vehicles and on aircraft.
  • Language indicating they conform to all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Any car seat wider than 17.88 inches is unlikely to fit in an Allegiant airplane seat. The only harness-type device approved by the FAA is the AmSafe Aviation CARES. It is designed for children weighing between 22 and 44 pounds and must include a label that says, “FAA Approved in Accordance with 14CFR 21.305(d), Approved for Aircraft Use Only.”

Unaccompanied children

Allegiant does not offer unaccompanied minor services, meaning children fourteen years and younger must be accompanied by an adult fifteen or older. Children between the age of fifteen and seventeen years old can be booked online at no extra fee.

Flying while pregnant

Allegiant requires a note from a physician clearing expectant mothers to fly if their due date is within forty-five days of travel. Other than that, there are no restrictions.

Group bookings

You may book up to nine passengers on a single itinerary while multiple reservations are needed to accommodate more travelers. There is also the option of Allegiant Air Charter, which allows for very large groups to fly to destinations not on the normal flight routes. This service is more expensive than buying standard scheduled service tickets. More information about charter services can be found here.

Disabled access & medical equipment

When making a new reservation online, and after typing in your name, click the adjacent “Request Special Assistance” link. You can also complete the Customer Request For Assistance Form or contact the Allegiant Reservations Center on 1-702-505-8888 to request additional services, such as wheelchair assistance, seating accommodation, stowage of an assistive device or escort assistance for a visually impaired passenger. The Reservations Center operates 24 hours a day. You can also add a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) or another device to an existing reservation for free. To do so, visit the Manage Travel tab on the Allegiant website. If you are traveling within 48 hours, you will need to contact the Customer Care team to ensure they can accommodate your request.

Check out Cheapflights.com’s guide to traveling with disabilities and guide to traveling with medication to help prep for your trip.

Pets and service animals

Allegiant accepts live animals/pets in the passenger cabin of the aircraft on flights within the contiguous 48 United States and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Note that only domestic cats and dogs are permitted, and they must be transported in a soft-sided leak-proof carrier that fits under the seat:

  • The carrier may be no larger than 9″ H x 16″ W x 19″ D.
  • No more than two pets per carrier are permitted.
  • Pets need to be able to stand and turn inside the carrier.
  • A pet carrier is not included in the carry-on baggage limitations.

Pet Fees:

  • In cabin: $100 each way
  • In baggage hold: $100 each way

You may travel with a maximum of 2 pets per carrier in the main cabin. To book a reservation with a pet, click the “Add a Pet in Cabin” link on the Travelers section when booking your reservation online. Allegiant does not require a health certificate for pets traveling in the cabin. Service and emotional support animals are not considered pets and are allowed for free on Allegiant Air as long as you are qualifying as an individual with a disability and certain documentation requirements are met. Giving 48-hour advance notice is recommended. To add a service animal or emotional support animal, select the Travel with Pets option below the passenger name input section.

Fun Facts

Allegiant Air’s livery features a sunburst design on the tail, which is representative of the airline’s ‘sunnier’ destinations. This is due to the fact that Allegiant aims primarily to serve leisure travelers, particularly those travelling from colder northern climates to warm-weather tourist destinations such as Punta Gorda, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas, Orlando, Los Angeles and Phoenix.
