Are there currently restrictions on travel to Beira related to COVID-19?
Yes, there are currently restrictions on flights to Beira along with the rest of Mozambique. Before you book or search for flights, consider the following restrictions: Entry to Mozambique is prohibited except for Mozambican nationals and foreign nationals with a valid residency visa. All other visas issued prior to April 1, 2020 have been canceled. It is not possible to obtain a visa on arrival in Mozambique.
All individuals entering Mozambique will be required to observe self-quarantine for a period of 10 days. Travelers who have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 must self-isolate for 14 days.
All travelers must present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test issued in their departure country in the 72 hours prior to travel. Travelers who do not have the means to pay for a COVID-19 test must self-isolate for 14 days on arrival.
The state of emergency, which was previously in force, extended visas until September 30. You’ll now need to apply for an extension of stay if your permission runs out on or after that date. All applicants must make an appointment in order to apply for the extension. You can make an appointment on the government website. If you are looking to book a trip to Beira and are outside of the restricted areas, please take the proper precautions and stay informed about traveling during COVID-19.
