Are there currently restrictions on travel to Bathurst related to COVID-19?

Yes, there are currently restrictions on flights to Bathurst along with the rest of Canada. Before you book or search for flights, consider the following restrictions: Canada has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Travelers who are not Canadian citizens, permanent residents or people registered under the Indian Act may only enter Canada for essential purposes. Entrance will be denied to people traveling for tourism, sightseeing, recreation, entertainment, social visits or religious functions. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, their immediate family, diplomats, airline crews, and travelers arriving from the United States who are traveling for non-discretionary or non-optional purposes may still enter Canada. Only Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau (YUL), Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) are operating international flights. Domestic flights, as well as flights from the United States, some destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean, and from St. Pierre-et-Miquelon, are currently not affected by this measure. Seasonal agricultural workers, fish/seafood workers, caregivers, temporary foreign workers, international students with valid study permits or approvals for study permits valid from at least March 18, 2020, and permanent resident applicants who received approval before March 18, 2020 who had not yet traveled to Canada, may still enter the country. Other people with special dispensation to enter Canada include French citizens who reside in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, people registered under the Indian Act, visa-exempt refugees and their immediate families, and those with special authorisation from the Canadian government. All travelers on flights to Canada must have a face covering. Travelers who exhibit symptoms will be prohibited from boarding planes that are destined for Canada. If they exhibit symptoms on arrival they will be referred to the Canadian Public Health Agency. Travelers who have been refused boarding in the past 14 days due to medical reasons related to COVID-19 may not enter the country. Travelers must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival at their final destination in Canada. Travelers who disembarked from a cruise ship with a known COVID-19 outbreak like the ‘Diamond Princess’ will be required to remain in quarantine for 14 days at a location determined by the Chief Public Health Officer. North Macedonian passports which expired on March 18, 2020 or later will be considered valid for entry to Canada through July 31, 2020. Visitors transiting through Canada who are not otherwise exempted (for example, by having a valid Canadian visa or a permanent resident card) must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization. See the Transport Canada website for more information. . If you are looking to book a trip to Bathurst and are outside of the restricted areas, please take the proper precautions and stay informed about traveling during COVID-19.

The Canadian city of Bathurst is renowned as one of North America’s most authentically preserved historical sites. Many of the tourist attractions here draw upon the city’s rich history, with original buildings providing the location for re-enactments of the Acadian population from the 18th and 19th centuries. The Village Historique Acadien, located close to New Brunswick, is arguably the best of these types of attractions. Water sports lovers should make sure to visit the stunning Atlas Park. This scenic park is based around an old quarry lake, and offers visitors plenty of opportunities for sailing, scuba diving, and so on. There are classes and sessions to suit everyone, from complete beginners to experts. And if you prefer, you can simply relax in the café with its gorgeous lake view, or head on down to the children’s amusement park with the kids. There are plenty of other sights to see in and around this city, such as the mineral museum of New Brunswick: an informative and exciting geological adventure for all ages.

Best Time to Fly to Bathurst

Like many holiday destinations, travel to Bathurst tends to be most expensive during the school vacation in August and the summer months of June and July. These are also the months when the weather in the city is most pleasant, though, giving you the advantage of clear, sunny skies for exploring the lake and the salt water beaches. Public holidays in Canada can be a good time to visit if you want to feel the buzz of local holidaying crowds and see the city in festive mode. Holidays are called ‘statutory’ (or ‘stat’) days in this country, and include Canada Day on July 1 when the nation celebrates its acquisition of dominion status.

Getting around Bathurst

Bathurst has a slightly limited public transport system consisting of buses. These will get you to most of the main tourist attractions. However, for your utmost convenience, it is often best to hire a car either in the city itself or at the airport when you arrive. That way you can explore this amazing city with independence and in your own time. This also solves the problem of how to reach the city from the airport, as you can just have your hire car waiting for you for when your flight touches down in either Moncton International Airport or Bathurst’s own regional airport.
