Entry requirementsIndividuals traveling to Iraq are required to carry out a COVID-19 test 48 hours prior to the flight and should be prepared to present results at passport control. Face coverings are mandatory on flights and in airports. Thermal temperature screening is in place at airport entrances and for arrival passengers. Travelers arriving at Erbil International Airport must have a negative COVID-19 test result that is less than 48 hours old. Travelers without a COVID-19 result will be tested at their cost. Arriving travelers must sign a pledge to quarantine for 48 hours at their destination until they receive results.
Quarantine requirementsAll travelers arriving from abroad will be requested to quarantine for 14 days and may be requested to provide proof of reservation in a hotel for the duration of the quarantine period.

Flights to the Baghdad International Airport in Baghdad, Iraq from the United States range anywhere from 23h to over 40h, depending on how many connecting flights there are and which U.S. city is the departure city.
Unfortunately, there are no direct, nonstop flights from the United States to Baghdad. Instead, travelers from the U.S. must take a one-, two or three-stop connecting flight to the Baghdad International Airport.
From the Baghdad International Airport, travelers have a few options to get to the city center quickly. Taking a taxi is an affordable and quick way to get into downtown Baghdad; visitors can get from the airport to the city center in about 30m, depending on traffic. It’s recommended that travelers book transit to downtown before the day of their arrival.
Another option is to take a hotel shuttle from the Baghdad International Airport to one of the downtown hotels near the city center, like Warwick Hotel Babylon. Another option to get from the airport to the city center is the bus. Bus tickets are available at kiosks inside of the airport, although prices will vary, as will wait times.

For breakfast, tourists enjoy chowing down at Royal Galaxy Restaurant and Samad Restaurant. Visitors rave about Saj Alreef Baghdad, Ahwak, Al-Areesha Restaurant, Beston Sammad, and Aroma Restaurant.
Yes, travelers flying from the United States to Baghdad need a valid passport. However, The Department of State warns its citizens that it may be dangerous to visit Iraq because of the country’s high counts of violence, kidnappings, and other crime. Also, it’s recommended that visitors have a couple of blank pages in their passports for their stamps and that their passports do not expire at least 6 months prior to leaving Iraq.
