In addition, Armidale is surrounded by four national parks, resulting in some beautiful, jaw-dropping scenery.

Armidale has a lively pedestrian mall, which stretches across three blocks, where the locals and students spend their time. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops cater to students and residents, and there are plenty of historical sites to see, including the noted Art Deco building Tattersalls Hotel, Armidale Courthouse, the Post Office, the New England Hotel and the former Commonwealth Bank. The New England Regional Art Museum on Kentucky Street has the Hinton Collection; 1,200 pieces of art that has been described as the only complete collection of Australian art in the country.

Armidale climate

Armidale has a cool temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Luckily, humidity is not a problem, thanks to Armidale’s latitude, and most of the rain falls in summer. The winter months (June to August) are cold, dry, and windy due to the Westerlies blowing at this time. There is some snowfall and temperatures are between 32-60 F. The summer months (December to February) are hot with temperatures reaching 86 F. Heavy rain showers in the afternoons and evenings help to cool things down in during these months.Spring and fall are the best times to visit Armidale. Between September to November (the spring season) the plants burst into life and temperatures are mild, even though the weather can be unpredictable. March to May (the fall season) is also a great time visit to take in the colors of the foliage.
