The Food and Wine Festival takes place in March, the Gold Cup Racing Carnival in May, the Veteran and Vintage Motor Clubs Annual Rally in June, and the Jazz and Blues Festival in September. Henty Field Days, a three-day exhibition of agricultural machinery, also takes place in September and the Wagga Wagga Agricultural Show is held at the end of September/start of October.

Due to the university, training base, RAAF and festivals, Wagga Wagga does not have a low season.

  • The Wiradjuri Walking Track follows a 19 miles trail around the city. It takes in the Murrumbidgee River, Williams Hill, Silvalite Reserve and Pomingalarna Park. 
  • The Wagga Wagga Court House is one of Wagga Wagga’s most historic buildings. Robert Cotterell, the bushranger known as Blue Cap and James Kelly (Ned’s younger brother) were tried and sentenced there. Other notable buildings are the Union Club Hotel (1850s), the railway station (1880s) and Wagga South Public School (1890s). 
  • “Movies by Moonlight” is the outdoor cinema in Wagga Wagga. During the summer months, movies are shown on the gigantic inflatable movie screen in the Botanic Gardens. 
  • Wagga Wagga Art Gallery houses the largest national public collection of Australian “studio” glass and has approximately 400 works. 
  • The Charles Sturt University Winery and Cheese Factory is open between 11am and 5pm on weekdays and 11-4 at weekends. Admission is free, but bookings are required. A little sweeter, the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory is situated in the historic Junee Flour Mill, about a 30-minute drive from Wagga Wagga. 
  • The Sporting Hall of Fame is located at the Museum of the Riverina’s Botanical Gardens’ site on Baden Powell Drive.
