|Jul 20232+ hour wait in line to pick up at Newark, one employee behind the desk. Facility is a triple-wide trailer and it’s pretty grubby. No seating. I asked for a toll tag, but they charged me for the weekly unlimited tolls instead - cost me a fortune. I’m not using Budget again!

|Apr 2023We reserved a minivan months in advance and paid in full when we made the reservation. This was to drive to Florida from NYC with our 3 kids. When we went to pick up they had no minivans, and tried to give us a Ford Explorer (too small for 5 of us with luggage and 24 hour drive). We said no to Ford Explorer and they offered Chevy Tahoe, but for $45 more per day a total of $400 more. We complained via email, and they offered a $50 credit on our next rental. Horrible. They didn’t have what we reserved and paid in full for months in advance, so they charged us 400 extra dollars to get a vehicle of comparable size.

|Apr 2023I was pleasantly surprised at Sixt. I had not heard of them before and I had previous challenges with other discount rentals. This rental was pre-booked and well-organized to receive the car once I arrived. The car was clean and drove beautifully. Finding the return lot was a bit more challenging. More signs would be helpful, but I did find it on my first drive around. Overall a pleasant experience. FYI: It's quite a distance to get to the new Terminal A at Newark. Expect at least a 15-20 minute walk/shuttle after returning the car.

|Dec 2021Car was fine. Pick up process no problem. Returning car to Newark was a fiasco; the signage was terrible. We circled a couple times trying to figure out where to go, but finally gave up and returned the car to Avis. They laughed and helped us. Still not sure what signs we missed!

|Dec 2025After arriving at the airport there was no shuttle at the airport I waited for 50mins! And at the time of pickup even though I had a Amex card which covers the insurace, they denied to rent me car without paying insurance. I immediately cancelled the reservation and I went back to airport again and rented car from enterprise with the same Amex card and the process was very smooth with them.

I told them I don't mind waiting, and they said I'd be emailed within 15mins. 3 hours later I get a call asking if I'm going to keep the car another day, and I let them know I returned it 3 hrs ago, and they told me I didn't. I described the two guys behind the counter, as well as the woman I was speaking with, and they had to double check and when they called me back said I was good. 4 days later I get an email telling me that I had damaged the vehicle, which I hadn't and which is why I wanted in invoice immediately. They had the car missing for 3 hrs+ and somehow didn't notice any damage for 4 days? Now, I have to deal with them. Horrible experience.
