|Mar 2023My representative Shora and her supervisor offered me a car that had prior damage. They took pictures of the damages. When I returned the car, the sales rep pointed out that no documentation of any damage had been recorded. I then had to explain that I didnt damage the car and had to show evidence. I had pictures of the damage on my cell phone. I would like the team to follow up and communicate about cars they issue out that have prior damage/dents.

|Sep 2023Bad from the start. GPS directions on Apple Maps and Waze couldn’t find the location, finally got lucky and accidentally drove by. You would think a business would make sure these platforms worked properly for their customers. Finally arrived and were told 6-8 people were in front of us and they were short on cars. After about 15+ minutes with the person being helped when we arrived, the next person said they were waiting for two hours. After another 10 minutes, we left and found an alternate option. I feel bad for the others who had no other options.

|Jul 2023My rental was due back at 9:00am on 7/4. I got there 15 minutes before then at 8:45am. The gates were shut and locked and no one was there. I called Budget and they told me I could return the car to the airport nearby. When we left the hotel I decided to swing by the Budget office again and they were there. They told me that since it was a holiday that they did not open till 9:00 as opposed to the website hours shown as 8:00am. I had not been told this when I picked up the car. They were not apologetic at all and seemed to not understand why I was upset. They kept telling me they did not open till 9. How was I supposed to know that ? Anyway they got me finished and offered to call me a cab to take me to the airport. I assumed they were paying for it as a courtesy but nope, I shelled out $20 for the cab. My intention was that when I returned the car at 8:45 that I would walk back to the hotel... 15 minute ... then take the free hotel shuttle to the airport.

|Jul 2023I had a 1 hr 40 minute window from my Amtrak arrival in Portland to the downtown office closing at 5PM. My train was 2 hrs late and the office downtown closed. I had called numerous times during the trip when I had service to make them aware of the delay. They didn't keep the office open past 4:45 pm (phone went straight to voicemail at that point). This seems like a very early closing time for a downtown office and they did not go above and beyond with 8 hours prior notice of an impending customer issue. I had to redirect my rental to the airport. This came at 2x the cost per day plus an Uber to thebairport, and had to book my car 2 days further out than I had planned to drop the car on Boise, ID. The people on the phone had to be told this extra 2 day trick by me as I was getting the ' we have no cars available at the airport for you' routine based on my original booking and had the beg them to try pushing the dates out further which magically allowed their system to release a previously unavailable car to me. Ultimately, I returned my car im Boise 3 days early compared to the new booking. So, I had to game their system to get my original booking to 'work' and they didn't know how to game their own system. Had I not figured this out, I am not certain what would have happened. Still, having to rent thru the airport was 2x the cost per day and that couldn't be adjusted to matchbmy original rate either. Their staff are disempowered to take take care of customers when it matters the most amd aren't creative when it does either. The car windows were filthy upon taking the car and bought windex wipes once I assessed the unsafe visibility situation in a setting sun glare an hour later enroute to Astoria, OR. My rental cost me about $200 more than expected even when I turned in my car a day earlier than I planned. Else, it would have been closer to $500 with the originally planned turn in time or $1000 more had I kept the car for the full new booking.

|Apr 2026The woman at the pickup counter in Portland was absolutely the wrong person for customer service. She was very, very pushy and upset that we would not give her our phone to work on when she 'didn't know how to unlock her computer'. She got more and more aggressive. We tried to explain that the phone is a secure work phone and that her computer not working was not our fault. She even reached over and started touching my phone. Nope. We had paid for an upgraded car, but she said she didn't see that upgrade. We showed her the receipt, but she refused the upgrade. It was a total mess. The car was clean and worked great. Still I would hesitate to rent from the Portland Hertz again. (She did not have a name tag on.)

|Oct 2025The rental agreement when I picked up the vehicle stated clearly that pick up was at Portland Int'l Airport and drop off was at Eugene Airport. Total estimated cost $54.28. Receipt emailed to me after drop-off added $29.00 for "Intercity Fee." It was clearly an intercity situation from the start and adding $30 after the fact seems like bullshit to me. Hertz unresponsive so far. Will dispute with my credit card company.

|Apr 2023Very bad experience, car booked on the internet with verification of several details (minimum age, card accepted ...). Once arrived at the counter the person asks us the name of our hotel, the name of our car insurance of our state, strange, after it is possible. Then she asks us for our card to pay, looks at our card and tells us it's ok, and 10min later, tells us she wants a credit card and not a debit card. While we checked that it was accepted after the reservation, and that it was well mentioned, debit accepted. So we lost 20 min, even more because we had to go to another agency to take another car, because hotel booked, ... more than 3 hours away.
