Best Time to Fly to Devonport

The summer season in Devonport is between December and February, when the climate is generally mild and warm. January tends to have the highest temperatures and also sees less rainfall than the wet winter season in July and August.

Due to the coolness of the Tasmanian climate in June and July, transportation and accommodation prices are generally much cheaper. This is a great time to visit the city if you don’t mind cool, cloudy weather with a higher chance of showers.

Getting around Devonport

There is a comprehensive bus network which serves the Devonport area. Coach companies also provide bus services between downtown Devonport, Burnie and Ulverstone. Devonport is a major ferry terminal for the Spirit of Tasmania ferries, which provide an 11 hour crossing to Melbourne. The Torquay Ferry also provides a quick and easy way to cross the Mersey River, which cuts between East and West Devonport.
