|Jan 2026Terrible extra charges that were not agreed to. Lied and told the law required extra coverage. Charged for fuel when I filled up across the street to be told I’d have to take that up with inside counter. Scammers everywhere.

|Jul 2023I was charged $18.98 above quoted price. The car was about 10 years old or more with rust and the weather seal on the back door coming off. They submitted a charge to my credit card for $644.86 which was declined by my credit card so far. Kayak recommended "car insurance " which was declined by the rental company. I don't know if I will rent in STX again.

|Mar 2023This is not an Avis owned rental, even thought I booked directly with Avis, when I went for pick up my wizard number was not valid and the rep at the counter simply stated they are not a direct Avis rental car agency. She also gave mis information about insurance , stating none of the credit cards would cover any insurance on their cars, which is not true. Counter lady was rude. pick up of the car , which was in very bad shape tire were nearly bald, there had been numerous dents and dings, front bumper had been struck as well, to the car none of which was marked on the slip they gave me that numerous shows locations of scratches and dents. I was also billed on a pending charge to my credit card the day of the pick up, and not the same as the contract dollar amount, first time in my many rentals down in St Thomas to have billing at the beginning. . It was also not billed under Avis but by a company called budget and this was never mentioned at pick up.

|Jul 2023I booked and paid for a luxury SUV, and was booked a small SUV upon receipt. No way of contacting Kayak rental service to report at time of rental. Once arrived at air port, I had to pay an extra +$250.00 for a Mid-size SUV. We had a party of 6 people. During entire trip we had someone sitting on one’s lap or I the very back of suv, rear access. Whole trip I was concerned that we had one person that was not secured via seat belt. Not sure if this will help matters or any action will be taken by Kayak, but I did feel to express my concerns.
