In fact, this is not far from the truth: El Kantaoui is a chic, purpose-built resort, which owes nothing to history, but everything to catering for the up-market tourist, seeking leisurely luxury in an enchanting setting. The El Kantaoui complex is built around a modern marina, which can accommodate more than 300 vessels, most of them moored by millionaires. Its complex of hotels centers on the cobblestone streets of the perfect reproduction of a typical medieval medina, abuzz during the day with souvenir hunters. In the evening the action switches to the bars and cafes opposite the marina. The entire town has been termed a "tourist ghetto", but it is indeed a delightful and highly successful one, enhanced by its Mediterranean location and Moorish flavor.

Laden with luxurious cobblestone streets, wide archways, and gleaming white buildings, it has become the main center of holiday activity, and the place where most tourists booking flights to Port el Kantaoui flock for its cafes, boutiques, and souvenir shops. At night, it becomes even livelier, when the sun goes down, the lights turn on, and bars and restaurants flood with people.
• Saving: Booking a cheap flight to Port el Kantaoui may be your only option for saving, since the resort is widely known for its up-to-here prices. It was built specifically for tourists, so it doesn’t need to accommodate the economic level of locals, and can focus solely on heightening hotel prices, meal expenses, and activity costs.
