A modern ski resort in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, Pamporovo is the sunniest Bulgarian winter resort situated at an altitude of 5,413ft and has wonderful snow throughout the season. The unique Mediterranean climate is extremely healthy and provides excellent conditions for climatic therapy and health tourism all year round. A Balneological Centre operates from within the resort. Pamporovo provides a variety of excellent ski runs for all degrees of difficulty, most of them starting from the Snejanka peak above the resort. The ski school center is one of the best in Europe with highly qualified instructors and an international reputation. Off the slopes there are numerous opportunities for entertainment and interesting tourist attractions; the Rhodope Mountains have long been the source of legends and stories, including the mythical singer Orpheus, and the region is interesting for its folk traditions and culture.

Rodope Mountain
When you step off your Pampovoro flight, you’ll be astounded by the geography. Rodope Mountain is one of the oldest mountains in Bulgaria, and like most of the country, it is surrounded with local folklore. Its landscape though, is no joke. Its west side is filled with high ridges, deeply cut and excavated through separated valleys. Its eastern side is filled with gorges, steep slopes with warm mineral springs, and rich wildlife.

Nature lovers planning flights to Pampovoro will undoubtedly be spoiled with over 2,000 species of flora. While you trek up the mountain, you’ll see 90 kinds of Balkan plants like hairy oak, venerable oak, durmast, black fir, hornbeam, sycamore, and coniferous species like spruce, pine spruce, and black spruce. Rivers and dams cross over the area, and 17 nature reserves are under UNESCO protection.
