Airport Overview

Although it was the venue for a mass presided over by Pope John Paul II in 1982, Coventry Airport (CVT) has had a troubled recent history. In 2007, a contentious plan to build permanent passenger terminal facilities was rejected by the High Court , which was followed by financial problems leading to the airport being closed down in 2009.

However, there are signs of recovery at Coventry Airport, with the Midlands hub being re-opened in 2010 as a commercial airport. Please note that the information contained in this guide is subject to change.

Terminal Transfer

Not applicable – Coventry Airport has only one terminal building.

Getting into Town

Airport taxi: Taxis are readily available at the rank outside the terminal building. It will cost about £10 to get downtown, and take about 10 minutes.

Bus: A bus service between the airport and downtown Coventry is provided by Mike de Courcey Travel. The No. 737 bus service runs every hour, departing from the airport on the half hour, between 6:30am and 7:30pm. The service calls at Broadgate in the city center and at Coventry Railway Station. Journey time is approximately 30 minutes, and tickets are less than £3.

Car Parking

There is both on and off-site parking available at Coventry Airport. The on-site car park has space for 38 vehicles (limited to one hour’s parking at the most), and the off-site lot (the place to go for long-term parking) has space for more than 100 vehicles. The off-site parking area is connected to the terminal building by a free shuttle-bus service. There are disabled bays in both parking areas.

Information Desks

A prominent information desk is located in the departures area of the terminal building.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: ATMs and foreign exchange facilities are available in the terminal building. Note that you will have to buy pre-packed bundles of foreign money – the latest information indicates that £100 bundles are the smallest available.

Conference and business: The Business Aviation Center, run by Midwest Executive Aviation, is available to business passengers. Facilities include spacious lounges, complimentary snacks and beverages, internet access, and satellite TV.

Food and drink: Horizons Cafe and Bar – located in Rapide House – is a friendly, solid eatery, offering hot and cold snacks and light meals, sweets, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There is also a self-service restaurant in the departures area.

Other facilities: Other facilities at Coventry Airport include baby-changing facilities and good access for disabled passengers.

Wi-Fi: There is Wi-Fi internet connectivity available at Coventry Airport, and there are plans to make this a free facility for passengers.
