After a lengthy wait getting through US customs, my husband and I arrived at our gate to board right at 15 minutes before the scheduled departure to SLC. They had just finished boarding, the plane was still at the gate but we were not allowed into the flight. We went to the service desk and the agent was impolite and short w us. We had been traveling already for 24 hours. We were routed to a later flight and told that we would have to spend the night either in NYC pr SLC. We asked to be rerouted to a different final destination near home (we knew that there were other flights that could get us home but to a different airport) but we’re told no they can’t do it. We have animals at home alone that need to be cared for. Anyway, we were told that one of us would still get our Comfort Plus seat but one would get main cabin. Ultimately we both “bumped” from comfort plus and placed in the very back seats of the plane, the ones that don’t recline. Very uncomfortable 5 hour flight w lots of turbulence followed by another 250.00 in travel expenses for hotel room and meals. Not Delta’s finest moment.
