If you want a quick guide to places to visit in Albany, you can always look up its five accredited National Historic Landmarks. These include the Ten Broeck Mansion, for example, which is a federal style mansion that also houses a museum. One of Albany's largest parks is Washington Park, and this is a delightful place for a picnic or a stroll. Each year, Washington Park is home to the Tulip Festival, which brings a real riot of color to the city and celebrates its Dutch heritage. Best Time to Fly to Albany
Visit during one of the city's several annual festivals to make the most of a bustling atmosphere. The Tulip Festival occurs in early May every year and is often attended by in excess of 80, 000 people. The cheapest times to visit New York are usually during the winter, between January and March, when the weather is coldest. Albany does have a real romantic charm about it in the snow, though, so you can make the most of its relatively quiet feel during the winter months. In the summer, it comes alive thanks to the gorgeous warm weather, and is home to several mini film and literature festivals. Flights between the months of June and August, and especially during the school vacation, tend to be a little more expensive, but you can make this more than worth it by getting out and about in the open air.
