The beautiful city of Regina is a haven for tourists looking to get the best of both worlds by experiencing a bustling urban environment surrounded by lush, natural scenery. Located in the Saskatchewan province, Regina boasts a modern stretch of skyline littered with national parks just waiting to be explored, with everything from bowling to horse riding trails to keep the whole family entertained. Regina is also an enviable destination for travelers who simply want to wind down. Whether it’s picnicking in Victoria Park, enjoying a round of golf or being pampered in one of the many spas, there’s no shortage of opportunities to relax here. By day Regina offers both tranquillity and excitement. Whilst you can while away the hours in the The Royal Saskatchewan Museum or the Saskatchewan Science Center, you can also just as easily go kayaking or take a boat trip to Willow Island. There’s also a vibrant nightlife to enjoy, with plenty of bars, clubs and casinos coming to life as the sun goes down. The Kramer IMAX Theater takes movie viewing to another level, whilst the Casino Regina Show Lounge regularly features live entertainment. Bushwakker Brewing Co. Ltd is not only ranked within the top 50 brewpubs in the world, but is the perfect place to catch some incredible live jazz and blues performances. A destination like Regina offers a unique city escape, with impressive sites and attractions to suit a variety of tastes.
Regina experiences the best weather from May to September, when Canadian spring and summertime is in full flow. Whilst this charming getaway is frequented throughout the year, with the number of visitors peaking in July and August, May and September offer the best opportunity to enjoy lovely weather at a reduced cost. School summer holidays usually fall within July and August, making these the two busiest months of the year, especially with families. Also, during this time many hotels, tour operators and attractions will run special offers to increase tourism during the off-peak season. It should also be noted that whilst the weather is exceptionally cold from around November to February, many areas will have beautiful winter holidays to enjoy. February’s Downtown Ice & Fire Winter Carnival is a stunning event that even includes a masquerade ball.
The city is very easy to navigate in a rental car, but if you prefer public transport, Regina Transit runs regularly and can get you anywhere you need to go in the city.
