Check your bill before you tip. Many hotels and restaurants automatically add a 10 to 15 percent charge to the bill. If they don’t, a tip equal to that amount is expected for service and taxi drivers.

Food and water are considered safe, but some tropical reef fish can be poisonous, even if they’re cooked. A Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended, but medical facilities are fairly good. You should carry your own health or travel insurance.
