Agra’s tropical climate brings 110 degree temperatures in June, and combined with the high rate of pollution in the city, most travelers book Agra flights as things cool down. June (and sometimes July) is also known for heavy rainfall and even monsoons. Chilly temperatures come in the winter, but range widely from 40-90 degrees (Fahrenheit).
Most travelers book flights to Agra between October and March, when the weather is dry and cool.
Peak Season: Booking flights to Agra in between October and December affords you the most mild and temperate conditions, avoiding too much heat, or debilitating rain.
Off-peak Season: July-September is the hottest and driest time, when dusty desert winds make outdoor activities difficult for anyone booking flights to Agra.
Hire a car and driver for your day in Agra and travel worry free. There are also many private tours in the area. The U.P. State Tourism Development Corporation offers tours at all the major sites. If you’d rather cut out on your own, don’t rent your own car. Driving in any Indian city is not recommended. Instead, travel by taxi or rickshaw – auto or bicycle. Make sure your haggling skills are sharpened before you board though. With the high number of tourists in Agra, drivers often quote ridiculously high prices. Don’t be afraid to argue. Also watch out for unplanned stops along your route. Drivers sometimes get a commission for bringing their passengers to local shops. Rent a bike and try pedaling your way around Agra. There are rental shops all over and powering your own way around the city can be helpful since motorized vehicles are not allowed in the Taj Sanctuary.
Your flight to Agra arrives at either Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), which 12 miles south of Delhi, or Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM) which is 18 miles north of Mumbai.
