Airport Overview

Innsbruck Airport is nestled in the Tyrolean Alps, close to the picturesque town of Innsbruck. Innsbruck Airport is well known to skiers and is the gateway to Western Austria’s popular slopes and ski resorts.

The airport has a decent selection of shops, including duty-free and a range of restaurants and other amenities. With just one terminal, it’s an easy airport to navigate and the views of the mountains from the building are the perfect start (or end) to a holiday in the Alps.

Most airlines with flights to Innsbruck Airport offer seasonal services as the region is a popular winter holiday destination. Flights from cities across Europe are quite easy to find and many low-cost carriers offer cheap flights to Innsbruck Airport.

The terminal building is modest, but also perfectly sized for passengers eager to leave the airport and start their holiday in the scenic Austrian Alps.

Getting into Town

Bus: Buses run every 15 minutes between the airport and Innsbruck Station (Hauptbahnhof). The trip takes less than 20 minutes and the bus stop at the airport is right outside the airport building.

Shuttles: As the airport is mainly used by passengers going skiing, there are several companies that offer airport transfers directly from the airport. While these transfers are convenient, many of them are over-priced. Passengers who wish to avoid this should stick to the cheap and efficient public transport network in and around Innsbruck.

Taxis: Taxis can be found at the taxi rank, which is in front of the airport. Taxis fares depend on your destination. Check the airport’s website for fares to resorts and towns in and around the region.

Car Parking

The multi-story car park is attached to the terminal via a covered walkway. There are also open air (P1, P2, P5 and P7) car parks available. Parking fees are the same for all parking areas.

Information Desks

The information desk is located on the ground floor of the terminal, just near the elevators and close to the arrivals area. Staff speak German and English.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: One ATM is located in the arrivals area. The Schenker Travel Agency, also in the arrivals area, has a currency exchange facility which is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday, with the exception of Wednesdays when it closes at 3:30 p.m.

Luggage: There are two lost-and-found counters in the arrivals hall. Passengers who have lost their luggage en route should contact the airline involved. Luggage trolleys are also provided and operate on a coin deposit system.

Conference and business: Meeting rooms and conference facilities, including audio-visual equipment, are available in the terminal building.

Other facilities: A travel agency is located in the arrivals section of the airport. The airport is also fully equipped to aid passengers with reduced mobility.
Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is provided at the airport. Passengers wishing to use this service should choose the “airport” wireless provider and type “airport” for the username and password prompts.
