This week, two Midwest airports reopen with improvements, in time for even the earliest of skiers. Cedar City Regional Airport, a common connector for Salt Lake City flights, opens after a three-week runway maintenance project. The replacement of asphalt cost approximately $3 million.

Neighboring state Colorado revamped and reopens Vail/Eagle County Airport, which has been closed since April 15, was part of a five-year, $60 million improvement project to expand its terminal and upgrade its radar system. The runway is now 1,000 feet longer.

To celebrate the opening, a “Romp the Runway” party was recently held, with a 5k fun run, bike races, children’s activities, and dinner.

Vail/Eagle County Airport will run service to Dallas Fort Worth from American Airlines, and to Denver via United Express. Once ski season starts, it will continue operating with the 13 major airports and four airlines around the country.
