Absolutely disappointed at the overall value and treatment of my car rental experience at KEF airport . I received a Dacia Duster when I had paid for A Jeep Wrangler or similar. The duster was a low-to-the-ground, small, hatch back with 4x4, but was not hardly a Jeep or small truck as the Jeep Wrangler is. I assumed that the Duster was an equivalent, but we do not have Dusters in the US so did was not familiar with the type until we saw it. In addition, we were pressured to also take the nature insurance (in addition to the other insurance that we did purchase!). because she said that the roads were really, really bad down south (The roads were clear in the south. We walk to where the car was parked. Our car was totally covered with ice and could not even get the trunk open. And, has much trouble opening any of the doors as they were iced heavily too. The windshield was also completely iced. They parked so close to the car on the driver side that we couldn’t even open the door to get in after we scraped iced off. They told to check for scratches and bumps but we couldn’t bc the car was completely covered in ice!!!! The windshield fluid pump was frozen (safety issue) and did not work for most of our week. This was an over priced and dishonest car rental experience costing us over 700 and was much less quality than we paid for! (In addition, the car cup holders and side pockets were not clean!)

Great rental experience! Affordable, easy, and very attentive staff at the airport. Car was nice and perfect for what I needed. My tire pressure light went on during my road trip and I emailed for assistance; didn't get a response for a couple of days, but I think I emailed the wrong address? Anyway I was able to fill the tires with air at a roadside gas station, no problem. I would definitely rent from Budget again!

Of the 25 cars I’ve rented so far this year, this was by far the worst vehicle. It had no A/C, the wind leaked through the windows, it was filthy, and was completely stripped down option with 110k kilometers. The sales staff was beyond pushy with the insurance, practically threatening me. Awful

It’s sucked. The guy was rude at check in, we got charged double from what I was quoted. AND I still, 4 days after dropping off, don’t have a finalized bill.

I would never rent a car from Dollar in Iceland again. I would urge others not to rent from them either. First, it was extremely difficult to find their location. Unlike most of the other car rental companies, they do not have an office inside the airport. It took extra time to find out that their office requires a shuttle that is 10 mins away. However, the worst part is that there is no Dollar return at the airport either. We spent 20 mins looking for Dollar's return. When we finally found it, we realized their office was closed, which meant there was no shuttle back to the airport. My husband and 2 other families had to split an Uber to get back to the airport. Dollar never explained how to return the car nor that the office wouldn't be open early in the morning for returns. It was a huge hassle! I will not rent from Dollar again.

Staff in Iceland was helpful.

I booked a SUV (Jeep Wrangler or equivalent) and when I arrived I found out that my reservation was for an economy car (Mazda CX-3). I was mislead by Kayak /Dollar, if I had know that for the price I was getting economy instead of SUV, I would not have booked.

I suggest that the cursory walk around the car be reinstated with the rental team, prior to driving off. The video, whilst being a good idea missed a few things. Similarly, the insurance selections could be simpler and clearer, they are not and I have a nagging suspicion that I paid for one thing too many. People want peace of mind and a hassle free experience when travelling.

High pressure insurance upsell. Make sure you arrange extra insurance coverage with online booking company. Cars and repairs are extremely expensive in Iceland, this Avis is will get you for the smallest scratch and change you the most they can - according to the pushy counter clerk.

Nice and friendly staff at the counter. She show us some of the points to pay attention while driving, like paid parking in the city area, how to drive on the round-above, which tunnel needs to paid fee to use, etc. I rented a 7-seat caravan for five peoples plus 7 pieces of carry-on luggage.

The rental office is very close to the airport, but the directions that were emailed to me were not good. No one inside the airport could tell me where you were at. We ended up having a cab drive us to the location we were we mailed only to find out that you were back behind the airport in an office connected to a hotel. That little ride cost me $30.00. But the car was great, the staff were efficient, and the car was big enough to carry 3 people and two weeks worth of luggage. The price was the lowest we found. We will rent from you folks again.

Their staff seems to be nice while they rip you off under the table. Should have read the reviews before I booked. What people say about it being a scam is completely true.

- They charge arms and legs for insurance deposit and damages that weren't even done by you (lots of Google reviews from multiple people about this). - Pickup in my experience took 3 hours. Multiple people had to wait with me for several hours.

Pick up arrived 1.5 hours late. I was charged 30% more than announced and the car was in very poor condition. Was forced to accept the deal unless I would be willing to be left in the middle of nowhere (rental office) at 10 pm with my family after a 24 hour trip. Worst experience ever.

The shuttle was supposed to pick our party of 5 up at Keflavík Airport but when we arrived they would only shuttle one of us to the rental facility so I had to go by myself then go back to the airport and pick the rest of my family up. The facility appears to be in a car junk yard. The car pick up process took a long time, the staff was rude to everyone waiting there, and they put a hold on my credit card of over $3k on top of the cost of the rental and insurance. I thought I was signing for the cost of the rental and insurance because I did not understand the conversation rate. The hold was never verbally explained to me. The car was clean but run down, dented and rusty. Luckily I took video of the exterior and interior before I got in because when I dropped it off they were going to charge me for a dent in the door until I showed them my video… even though when I picked the car up they assured me that they took enough pictures. I also heard them on the phone with another customer who’s rental died at a waterfall. They basically blamed it on the customer and told them to call roadside assistance and hung up on them. Renters beware!

The car was filthy with black/ oily grime on steering wheel and all buttons, the tires were low in air so we had to constantly find gas station to fill them, the car was dented and with broken light covers. Ended having to pay for daily insurance which doubled the rental cost.could have found a better car for the same price elsewhere. Pick up and drop off was convenient

The drop off was quick. Only because we were the only people there. The pick up was a complete mess and took forever. Took a long time for the shuttle to arrive from the airport. The rental car was very old. It had 110,000 miles on it was was very. I wish I had rented from hertz. avis, or enterprise and not a discount car rental.
