Getting Around Paphos

It might be tempting to spend your entire Pathos vacation stretched out on the sand, but if you decide to get up and get out there are a few options for you to move around a bit. Buses run cheaply and frequently, and will take you through all the urban areas. The most common form of transportation, taxis are just about everywhere, and run 24 hours a day. They run a bit cheaper when you share them, and are easily the most comfortable mode of transportation since your flight to Paphos.

If you decide to rent a car and drive, beware the traffic runs on the left side of the road in Paphos, so stay alert and keep on the main roads.

Paphos Aphrodite Festival: This celebration is one for the books. If you find a cheap flight to Paphos in August, you’ll be privy to one of the biggest native events of the year. The Paphos Aphrodite Festival is held in the square directly in front of the medieval castle, referred to as Castle Square. Each year, the island invites a notable opera group to perform a classic for everyone to enjoy past performances include Verdi's 'La Traviata' and 'Aida', Bizet's 'Carmen' and Puccini's 'Turandot'. Just follow signs for the harbor and you’ll be on your way.

Paphos Castle: When visiting such a beautiful location, it’s always important to absorb the place’s history. Your flight to Paphos is a great opportunity to read a bit about the island’s past. Located in Kato, just next to the square lies an enormous structure called the Paphos Castle. Built to protect the harbor, the former Byzantine fort was built in the 13th century, and then rebuilt by the Lusignans. In 1570, it was destroyed by Ottoman attacks, and the only part of the building that remains utterly untouched is the bell tower.

Secret Valley Golf Course: Golfing is a great alternative to the beach, especially for those who book flights to Paphos in the winter. Since it won’t be too hot, spending your day on this 18-hole championship course will certainly be an intense experience. In the valley of east Paphos, this par 71 course has two opportunities for birdies, and is known for its extra challenging second half. Make plans for individual lessons if you’re a beginner, because resident PGA pros are in charge of teaching them.

Coral Bay: Whether you’re a veteran or a novice, diving is one event not to be missed on the island. Take a quick lesson in diving school to participate in one of the daily dives in St. George’s Harbor and Amphora. With both boat dives and shore dives, this underwater bliss is surely something to add to your Paphos travel. All ages and abilities are welcome to dive, but if the underwater world isn’t for you, Coral Bay is located on a main road with other shops, restaurants, and bars to kill the time.
