    US Airways Check-in

    Online check-in is available from 24 hours until one hour before the scheduled flight departure.

    For airport check-in, desks close 30 minutes before departure for domestic travel and 60 minutes before departure for international travel.

    US Airways baggage allowance

    Carry-on: You are allowed one item plus one personal item, which includes a purse, briefcase, laptop or diaper bag. Items must fit in the overhead compartment or under your seat.

    Checked: For flights within the US and Canada, there is a charge of $25 for the first bag and $35 for the second. A third bag costs $125 and the fourth through ninth bags cost $200 each. Bags must weigh less than 50lbs.

    For international flights to or from Europe, one free bag under 50lbs is allowed. The charge for the second bag is $70 at the airport and the third through ninth bags cost $200 each.

    For all other international flights, two bags under 50lbs will be allowed free of charge.

    Excess: There is a $90 charge for bags weighing between 51lbs and 70lbs, and a $175 charge for bags between 71lbs and 100lbs or bags bigger than 62in.

    Passenger change details

    Changes can be made online. No administrative fee is due if the original ticket was an unrestricted fare. Non-refundable tickets can be altered for the first 24 hours after booking. After that, penalty fees will apply. Name changes cannot be made, but the ticket can be altered for a standby flight on the same day for a small fee. Tickets can also be canceled any time before or on the day of travel. The cost of the ticket can be used to book another non-refundable ticket with a departure date within a year, but an administrative fee will be charged.

    Child fares

    Infants under two years of age travel for free on an adult's lap. Reservations for infants cannot me made online, but must be made at the reservations number (listed above). On international flights, a ticket may need to be purchased for infants at 10 percent of the price of an adult ticket. Children's fares are available on some routes for children up to the age of 12.

    Senior fares

    Discounts for travelers aged 62 and older have recently been phased out and replaced with the AARP savers discount program.

    Pets

    The number of pets that may be carried in each cabin is limited and reservations are required. There is a $100 fee each way to transport a small cat, bird or dog. Your pet will count toward your carry-on bag allowance. You can also travel with your pet as checked luggage.

    Carrying musical instruments

    Musical instruments are allowed as carry-on luggage as long as they do not exceed 45 linear inches. If the instrument is too large, an additional seat must be purchased.

    In-flight service

    Non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary. Snacks and sandwiches are available for purchase.
