    US Airways Check-in

    Passengers must check in and have all baggage checked at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure for domestic travel and 60 minutes before departure for international travel. Travel from some airports requires check in to be complete 45 minutes before scheduled departure. Check US Airways’ website to see if your departure city is on that list.

    Online check in is available starting 24 hours before departure and up to 60 minutes before departure.

    Carry-on Allowance

    One carry-on bag and one personal item such as a purse, briefcase or laptop bag.

    A carry-on bag may not exceed 45 linear inches or 40 pounds.

    Economy Checked Baggage Allowance

    For travel within the U.S., Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Bermuda and South America (except Brazil), a $25 fee applies for a first checked bag. A $35 fee applies for a second checked bag, a $125 for the fourth checked bag and a $200 fee for each additional bag. A bag will be deemed oversized if it measures more than 61 linear inches and overweight if it weighs more than 50 pounds.

    For transatlantic travel, the first bag is free. A second bag incurs a fee of $100, a third bag a fee of $200 and each additional bag will be $200. A bag will be deemed oversized if it measures more than 61 linear inches and overweight if it weighs more than 50 pounds. A bag that weighs more than 70 pounds will not be accepted on flights to, from or through Europe.

    For transpacific travel (except Hawaii), the first and second bags fly free, while the third bag has a $200 fee and each additional bag has a $200 fee. A bag will be deemed oversized if it measures more than 61 linear inches and overweight if it weighs more than 50 pounds.

    For travel to and from Brazil, the first and second bags are free, while the third bag will incur an $85 fee and each additional bag will also incur an $85 fee. A bag will be deemed oversized if it measures more than 61 linear inches and overweight if it weighs more than 70 pounds.

    Overweight and Oversized Baggage

    For transatlantic and transpacific travel, a bag will be deemed oversized if it measures more than 61 linear inches and overweight if it weighs more than 50 pounds. A bag that weighs more than 70 pounds will not be accepted on flights to, from or through Europe. A $150 fee applies to a bag that weighs 51 to 70 pounds, a $175 fee applies for a bag that weights 71 to 100 pounds, and a $175 fee applies to a bag that measures 62 to 80 inches.

    For travel to and from Brazil, a bag will be deemed oversized if it measures more than 61 linear inches and overweight if it weighs more than 70 pounds. An $85 fee applies to a bag that weighs 71 to 100 pounds and/or a bag that measures 62 to 80 inches.

    Passenger change details

    A change or cancellation may incur a fee ranging from $150 to $300 per passenger.  Changes can be made on US Airways’ website or over the phone.

    US Airways has a 24-hour refund rule that allows a customer to cancel a ticket for a full refund by calling 800-428-4322 within 24 hours of purchasing the ticket.

    Child fares

    An infant younger than two years old may travel in an adult’s lap for travel within the U.S. International travel may require a ticket for a lap infant. Please contact US Airways or visit the airline’s website for more information.

    Senior fares

    Senior fares are not available.

    Pets

    A pet counts toward a passenger’s carry-on baggage allowance. One small dog, cat or bird per passenger can travel in the cabin for a $125 fee each way. Pets must be in an approved carrier placed under the seat in front of the passenger. Pets cannot be carried on for flights to and from Europe, South America, the Middle East, Antigua, Bridgetown, Barbados, Montego Bay, Jamaica and St. Lucia. Passengers traveling with pets must check in with a US Airways agent at the airport.

    Carrying musical instruments

    Musical instruments can be checked provided they are in protective cases intended for shipping. An instrument less than 75 linear inches can be carried on. If the instrument exceeds checked baggage restrictions but is very fragile, a passenger can purchase an extra seat for his or her instrument. The instrument must not weigh more than 170 pounds and cannot be in an emergency exit row.

    In-flight service

    A selection of free beverages is available. Snacks and meals are available for purchase. Some international flights feature complimentary entrees. Movies are available on overhead video or on Video on Demand during flights to Alaska (to or from PHL), and to or from Europe, Hawaii, the Middle East and South America. In-flight Wi-Fi through Gogo internet has been installed on some planes and is currently being added to more planes.

    Air miles

    Dividend Miles is US Airways travel loyalty program. Members can earn miles and award travel through many different purchases and get credit for miles on flights. Miles can be used to get flight class upgrades, make charitable donations and more.
