Economy Class passengers may bring one piece of hand luggage (First and Business Class flyers may take two). The maximum dimensions for a piece of hand luggage are 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm; the maximum weight is 8kg. Foldable garment bags count as hand luggage too (maximum dimensions are 57 cm x 54 cm x 15 cm).

Charges for sports equipment range from $70 (bowling equipment or hockey equipment for example) to $150 (hang-gliding equipment or a kayak).

On international routes infants (aged up to two years) are usually charged 10 percent of the adult fare.
Animals are transported in the cabin (maximum weight 17 pounds) or cargo hold. Pet owners should notify Reservations at the time of booking (at the latest 24 hours before departure date). The fee is about $100.
Some small musical instruments may be carried on board. Passengers may purchase a second for larger items such as a guitar or cello.
Complimentary meals and snacks are provided. In-flight entertainment for Economy passengers includes movies, TV and radio and a children's entertainment package. Lufthansa FlyNet (on-board broadband Internet access) is available on some long-haul aircraft. Lufthansa Magazin is available on every flight. There's a new, free Lufthansa Magazin iPad app too.
