Lufthansa Check-in
There are different rules for different classes and check-in times vary according to your departure airport. In general, economy class passengers should check in between 90 and 120 minutes before their flight is scheduled to depart. A full list of check-in times is available on their website.
Lufthansa baggage allowance
Carry-on: One piece is allowed, not weighing more than 17lbs, plus one personal item.
Checked: You are allotted one item weighing no more than 50lbs if traveling in economy class.
Excess: If you have a piece that is bigger than 62in, there is a $150 charge. If you have a piece or weighing more than 50lbs, there is a charge of $150. If your bag is heavier than 50lbs and bigger than 62in, there is $300 charge if it weighs less than 70lbs and a $450 charge if it weighs between 70lbs and 100lbs. You are charged similarly if you have a second bad that is overweight, oversized or both.

Pre-arranged seating
Available. Lufthansa passengers may reserve seats on inter-continental flights up to 24 hours before departure.

Available. In some cases passengers may be subject to an administration fee.

Some child fares are available, check with the airline before booking. Infants under two may sit on an adult’s lap.

Lufthansa transports pets with prior reservation and for a nominal fee. A limited number of animals are permitted on each flight, and only cats and dogs are allowed to travel in the cabin. The maximum weight for animal and carrier is 18lbs, with linear dimensions (length + width + height) of 46in. All other animals are required to be transported in the climate-controlled hold of the plane, even if you are on the same flight as your pet. It costs between $50 and $400 to carry your animal, depending on the animal’s size as well as your starting point and destination. Service dogs can travel in the cabin free of charge.

Standard baggage allowances apply. A separate seat can be booked for a large instrument.
