For long-haul routes, departing or arriving outside Europe, Aer Lingus recommends allowing three and a half hours. For UK and European routes, it recommends two and a half hours. Desks, however, close 45 minutes before departure for all flights.
Online check-in for travel from Dublin, Shannon, Cork, Belfast, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, New York (JFK), Boston and Chicago is available up to two hours before your scheduled departure time.
Online check-in for travel from all other airports is available from 30 hours in advance (24 hours in advance to/from USA) up to four and a half hours before your scheduled departure time.
Carry-on: One piece of carry-on is permitted with maximum dimensions of 22 x 16 x 8in and maximum weight of 22lbs. A personal item, such an umbrella, camera or handbag, is also allowed. For all flights departing from the UK, the maximum size of hand luggage is 6in x 14in x 18in.
Checked: Short-haul flights (between Ireland, the UK and Europe) will be charged a price of €12 to €15 ($14-$18) if booked online, €20 ($24) if paid at the airport.
On long-haul flights to America, there is a free luggage allowance of one bag per passenger with a weight less than 50lbs. No one bag can weigh more than 70lbs. Second subsequent bag will be charged €40 ($48).
Excess: Fares vary by destination. For short-haul (UK, Ireland and Europe) routes there is a fee of €9 per kg overweight. For flights to the US a fee applies of €40 ($48) for baggage weighing between 50lbs and 70lbs.
Seat pitch: 32 inches for economy and 52 inches for business class.
Aer Lingus will try to honor advance seating requests but can’t guarantee any particular seat. The airline reserves the right to assign or reassign seats at any time, even after boarding of the aircraft. This may be necessary for operational, safety or security reasons.

Aer Lingus will not accept bookings for unaccompanied minors. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult aged 16 years or over who will take responsibility for the child. On Transatlantic flights, Aer Lingus offers a 10 percent child discount for passengers between the ages of two and 12.

Aer Lingus only accepts domestic cats and dogs for carriage on transatlantic flights. Animals must be booked as cargo, and there are restrictions on days that they can fly and on specifics about the animal, such as age. You must provide fairly extensive documentation on the animal and you should research the latest restrictions well before you fly.
Small instruments may qualify as carry-on items. Medium-sized instruments may be carried in the cabin if the passenger purchases an individual seat for the instrument.
On short-haul flights between Ireland, the UK and Europe there is a "Sky Cafe" from which drinks and snacks can be purchased. On long-haul flights there is a complimentary three-course meal with a non-alcoholic drink. Special meals, such as diabetic, Kosher or vegan can be booked in advance by calling the reservations line. In-flight shopping is also available.
Aer Lingus's frequent flyer program is called the Gold Circle Club. The Gold Circle Club consists of three tiers: Gold Circle, Gold Circle Prestige and Gold Circle Elite. A Membership card is provided by Aer Lingus for various benefits. Gold Circle Membership provides access to exclusive airport lounges, special reservation services and other benefits, such as advanced seat preferences and dedicated check-in areas.
Aer Lingus offers their Sky Café service on all flights within Europe. They serve a variety of hot and cold food and beverages at reasonable prices. They also provide complimentary soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.
