People who suffer from a fear of flying can sometimes miss out on the joys and experiences of travel. Earlier this year, we told you about Virgin Atlantic’s iPhone application for “Flying Without Fear” and now there is another comprehensive way to learn how to overcome that anxiety.

The Takeoff Today Program is anchored in helping scared fliers travel in peace. Jeffrey Skiles, co-pilot of US Airways Flight 1549’s “Miracle on the Hudson” is writing the foreword for the book that helps fliers board a plane with confidence. He uses his own experiences on flight 1549 to relate to the anxiety of others, and says that after two weeks, we was able to return to the cockpit without any nervousness.

One in four people in the United States suffer from fear of flying.

“The fear of flying can be incredibly destructive to people’s lives and may prevent them from nurturing relationships with friends and family, pursuing careers that involve air travel, or simply seeing all that the world has to offer, ”says Rich Presta, the author of the Takeoff Today Program.

The compilation looked to pilots, flight attendants, airline mechanics, air traffic controllers, and others that work within aviation to gain safety information for the public.
