If you’re looking for a way to take the family on vacation this fall without breaking the bank, you might want to put San Diego at the top of your list. This October, kids will eat, stay and play for free at hundreds of attractions, restaurants and hotels throughout San Diego.

During Kidvasion (Oct. 1-31), you can bring the family to San Diego and take advantage of free promotions for kids at attractions like SeaWorld, LEGOLAND and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. If you’re looking for an aquatic-themed getaway, for example, you can plan a SeaWorld vacation that includes free theme park admission, dolphin and beluga interactions and a “Dine with Shamu” experience for kids ages three to nine (one child free per paid adult). Nearby, kids eat for free at hotels like the Hampton Inn, Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa and Red Roof Inn.

If you’re looking for thrills, the kids can play and ride free at the boardwalk at Belmont Park and LEGOLAND. And if you want to let the kids go wild, take advantage of the free child admission at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

The discounts also extend to tours and travel. Californians might want to take the Amtrak down to San Diego, as kids ages 2 to 15 ride free with a paying adult all month long. Kids ages 12 and under can also enjoy some of the city’s famed tours for free: Old Town Trolley Tours, San Diego SEAL Tours, Hornblower Cruises and Flagship Cruises are all offering free rides for kids traveling with a paying adult.

When it comes to hotels, families will enjoy the kid-friendly perks at Paradise Point Resort & Spa, where kids not only enjoy free breakfast but also receive a $50 “island allowance” to spend on resort amenities like bicycle rentals or kid-friendly spa treatments.

Museums, golf academies and surf schools are just a few of the other attractions taking part in San Diego’s Kidvasion. For a complete look at the hundreds of participating partners, visit the SanDiego.org website.
