Airport Overview
Also known as Freeport International Airport, Grand Bahama International Airport is a privately owned facility and is the closest airport to Freeport, the important Bahamas cruise port.
The airport is conveniently located 4.8km (3 miles) outside of Freeport town, and is the only airport in the country besides Nassau with a US Border Pre-clearance facility.
The majority of the flights to Freeport International Airport come from the US, with a couple of seasonal services from Canada and Italy. You can get direct flights to Freeport International Airport from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Nassau, Bimini, Great Harbour Cay, Moore’s Island, Atlanta, Charlotte, Baltimore, Louisville and Richmond.
Grand Bahama International received a major upgrade in 2004. The architecture is nothing to marvel at but the airport is clean and modern, and very welcoming to travellers who flock to the Bahamas each year for a bit of sun, sand and surf.

Bus: There is no public transport from the airport into Freeport.
