Deriba Merga (men’s No. 1) and Dire Tune (women’s No. 2) both hail from Ethiopia, a country known for incredible natural beauty and awe-inspiring landscape. Kara Goucher (women’s No. 3) and Ryan Hall (men’s No. 3) were both born in the USA, and live in Oregon and California, respectively. To see where these runners pounded the pavement in their home states, hop a flight to Oregon and enjoy the modern urbanity of Portland, or jump on a flight to California to jog on the sand.
