It’s official – we're hungry. Bon Appetit has released its top 10 picks for the best new restaurants in the US, and we're planning our next culinary excursion to some of these restaurants. The emphasis this time focuses on local, sustainable ingredients, simply crafted without pretention.

If Restaurant Week has you eager to try new dishes, consider expanding your palate at some of the magazine’s most delectable choices. We’ve selected a few from the list and added some cheap flight deals (based on travel the first week of September) to help you on your way. Dig in!

Bar Jules, San Francisco: Boasting a bohemian feel and featuring a matter-of-fact chalkboard menu highlighting a handful of amazing dishes, Bar Jules cooks up some of San Fran’s most flavorful local fare. This Pacific haven doesn’t take reservations, so get there early to beat the crowds. We found flights to San Francisco starting at just $281 from Atlanta and $293 from New York City.

No. 7, Brooklyn: If you really need a reason to cross the Brooklyn Bridge, here it is: No. 7 restaurant. No. 7 takes some risky menu choices with items like pumpkin seed tofu and a zesty black bean sauce. Flights to New York start at $218 from Los Angeles, and just $168 from Atlanta. (Note to New York travelers: American Airlines and NYC & Company have teamed up to offer cheap flights to New York.)

Woodberry Kitchen, Baltimore: Built in a refurbished farm house, the Woodberry Kitchen emits a warm and earthy feeling, perfectly paired with its uniquely-prepared selection of comfort food. Hop on a flight to Baltimore for around just $213 from Los Angeles, or $149 from New York.

Mado, Chicago: Husband and wife Rob and Allie Levitt teamed up to bring Mado to the masses. The concept: bold and unlikely combinations in a simple preparation. A big board inside sings praise to all the farms that Mado does business with, and the menu celebrates only the freshest seasonal ingredients. We found flights to Chicago for $152 from Boston, and for $117 from Atlanta.

Hungry Mother, Cambridge, MA
: It’s true that Boston proper has its upscale gems and tiny bistros, but crossing the river every once in a while is good for the soul. Hungry Mother in Cambridge is captained by a quirky chef who grew up in the south, but practices classic French cooking. It may be atypical Bostonian fare, but since no one seems to be complaining, we’re guessing it’s wicked good. Satisfy your hunger with a flight to Boston for just $138 from Atlanta, and $238 from Los Angeles.
