Airport Overview

Antalya Airport (AYT) is the closest airport to the Turkish Riviera. Just eight miles from Antalya, this airport is the best pick for travelers off to spend some well-earned days basking in the sun on one of Turkey’s fantastic Mediterranean beaches.

Antalya Havalimani Airport is well-equipped for an airport of its size. Passengers can enjoy a number of shopping and duty-free facilities at the airport in both the arrivals and departures terminals. Many of the shops are open 24 hours a day and some of the sales staff are multi-lingual.

The best thing about Antalya’s airport is that it caters for visitors on a budget; loads of budget airlines operate in and out of Antalya Havalimani Airport, particularly during the summer holidays. Holidaymakers booking flights to Antalya Havalimani Airport will find cheap deals with low-cost carriers such as easyJet. There is also a range of charter flights to Antalya Airport – the perfect way to jet off for a fun-filled vacation in the sun.

Perhaps the number of two-week tourists passing through this airport every year has made it slightly less friendly and more of a money-making enterprise, however. The Antalya airport often gets bad reviews for the unfriendliness of its staff and the food prices are a little steep. However, passengers flying to Antalya Airport can take comfort in the relaxing vacation that starts once you’re out of the airport itself.

Terminal Transfer

The terminals are within easy walking distance of one another.

Getting into Town

Bus: Public buses depart from outside the domestic terminal at least once an hour, but generally every 30 minutes. Some hotels provide a free shuttle service for guests.

Taxi: Taxis are available from outside the arrivals hall. Passengers should haggle and agree on a price before getting into the taxi.

Car Parking

The airport has two parking lots outside the International and Domestic Terminals which cater for short- and long-term parking. The Domestic Terminal parking facility allows for 15 minutes of free parking.

Information Desks

Staff are multilingual and the information desks are located in the arrivals and departures halls.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Banks and ATMs are located in the Domestic and International Terminals. A currency exchange facility is available in the arrivals hall. Both the International Terminal and departures areas have post offices, which are open during business hours and are located near the check-in desks: the perfect excuse to send a sun-kissed postcard to loved ones back home.

Luggage: The airport has a lost-and-found facility for luggage lost within the airport. Luggage lost en route to Antalya is handled by the airline involved. Baggage-wrapping facilities operate 24 hours a day in the departures hall of Terminal 1. There is no left-luggage facility.

Conference and business: There are no conference facilities at Antalya Airport; however, there is a meeting room in the CIP terminal. The International Comfort Airport Hotel (IC Hotels Airport) is located half a mile (800m) from the airport and offers a business center, conference facilities and all the business accessories (fax facilities, Internet and printing) that you might need on a business trip.

Other facilities: Two prayer rooms are available on the premises. Disabled passengers are provided with assistance and Braille signage is used wherever possible within the airport. The CIP terminal is reserved for VIP passengers.

Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is available.

Shopping: Duty-free shops are located in the arrivals and departures halls. However, the items on sale, particularly souvenir items, are generally more expensive than the same items at one of the markets in town. Travelers can shop for Turkish foodstuffs (because you can’t go all the way to Turkey and not bring back some Turkish delights) and souvenirs, clothing, liquor, tobacco, cosmetics and other brand-name goods. Some of the shops at Antalya Airport include Benetton, Swatch, Lacoste, as well as a “Turkish bazaar” and shops selling electronic goods.

Food and drink: The food and beverages at the airport are overpriced, not only by Turkish standards, but by European standards as well. Passengers willing to fork out can enjoy western fare from Burger King, Popeye’s, Via Bar and Millennium Café. Turkish food is also available and there are a few snack and coffee bars at the airport. In general it is better to eat before getting to the airport, or bring a couple of snack foods along so that you don’t have to fork out for overpriced airport food.
