Additional information about Hawaii

  • Hawaii is made up of 19 islands; six are open for tourism.

  • The Big Island, or the Island of Hawaii, is best known for volcanoes, macadamia nuts and coffee plantations.

  • The most populated island, Oahu boasts famous attractions like Waikiki Beach, the North Shore, Pearl Harbor and pineapple fields.

  • Maui is the second-largest island and is mostly made up of resorts, but it also has the famous road to Hana, a more rural escape on the east side of the island.

  • Kauai is a more secluded island. It is the furthest northwest island and known for its rainfall and tropical flora. Kauai is a destination for travelers looking less for the mega resort experience and more for a relaxing private trip.

  • Molokai is the least built up island that allows tourists. It is known as the “Friendly Isle” and has far less amenities for visitors looking for a more rugged experience.

  • Lanai is an interesting combination of both luxurious accommodations and rugged outdoor activities. It is the smallest of Hawaii’s inhabited Islands that tourists can visit.
