Still planning your summer family vacation? Beat the heat by taking your kids to some of the coolest water park attractions all over the country. The LA Times put together a list of new and updated rides, slides, and parks, so we’ve chosen a few that look exciting, and mapped out how affordable your summer family vacation can really be.

We used New York, Los Angeles, and Fort Lauderdale as example departure cities, to cover three different areas of the country and to use only the most affordable departure destinations. Flight samples were taken for the first week in August.

Check out Schlitterbahn Vacation Village in Kansas City to see Torrent River, the world’s largest tidal wave, and Storm Blaster, the uphill water coaster that’s sure to leave you thrilled. One day passes cost $32.99 for adults, and $27.99 for kids. New York flights to Kansas City range from $230-$260.

At Castle Rock Resort in Branson, Missouri, you’ll find an incredible indoor water park with a recently renovated hotel rooms on site. A family suite here (equipped with bunk beds) includes six water park passes, and costs just $382 for the entire week. Los Angeles flights to Branson range from $420-$460.

The Wahee Cyclone at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia is enough to leave you trembling. Built in 2009, the water slide is just part of the awesome deal you get when you book a Family Fun Package that includes 4-day tickets and meals every day, for just $150.00. Fort Lauderdale flights to Atlanta range from $150-$220.

Go all the way to the top of the Twister Tower at Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio, to experience the $2 million renovation that boasts 3 million gallons of water. Combination-ride tickets cost $21.95, but toddlers under three years old are only $10.50. New York flights to Cincinnati range from $200-$275.

Chocolate lovers will have no problem booking flights to Philadelphia (just $310-$410 from Los Angeles) when Hershey Park is in sight. The Shore Wave Pool and Intercoastal Waterway at the theme park’s boardwalk are just extras to sweeten the deal. Spend two nights at Hershey Lodge for four people, with all-access passes, and get breakfast every day, water-view cabanas, and other fun extras for just under $600. Los Angeles flights to Philadelphia cost between $310-$410.
