Transportation Security Administration (TSA) (Web site: www.tsa.gov) officials are to roll out color-coded security lanes at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport today (Thursday, August 28).
The new system will help speed up queues at security checkpoints, The Arizona Republic reports.
Nico Melendez, TSA spokesman, told the publication: “We have seen as much as a 30 percent decline in wait times during peak periods with self select.
“We know they are helping passengers navigate their way through screening more efficiently.”
Black Diamond or “Expert Traveler” lanes are for those who are experienced flyers and know screening procedures well, and “Casual Traveler” lanes, which are marked with a blue square are for passengers who are familiar with security rules but don’t want to be rushed.
Meanwhile, lanes that have a green circle are for those traveling with small children or who need assistance.
