Despite a down economy, U.S. travelers do not intend to cut down on vacations or business trips this year, according to a new survey by Fast Park.
The study by off-site airport parking firm Fast Park found that 66 percent of its customers planned to book the same number of vacations and purchase airline tickets in 2009 as they did last year.
Not surprisingly, travelers admit to seeking cheaper options and bargain hunting while jet setting, with nearly 50 percent focusing on reducing travel expenses over the next six months.
Online sales and travel deals, traveling closer to home and shorter trips were major areas leisure travelers were looking to cut costs, while corporate customers said that their organizations had made changes to travel policies.
Manuel Chavez, chief operations officer at Fast Park, said: “It’s clear most of our customers want to (or must) continue traveling despite current economic conditions.
“We’re all affected by the current economy in one way or another. Many of our corporate partners are unable to reduce their travel and we understand their need to reduce expenses. We’re working with these groups individually to develop bulk rate discounts whenever we can.”
