We had to plan a last minute trip with our three young children from Kahului Maui to Cleveland Ohio due to a death in the family. This meant seating selection was scarce. Even though Alaska Airlines was the more expensive option, we booked with them upon reviewing their family seating policy with confidence they would take care of us. Grateful we were all able to sit together… however the very last row in the back of the plane, pressed up against the bathrooms, on an overnight flight with 3 small children was the least ideal situation. The chairs didn’t recline, every time someone flushed the toilet/came in/out of the bathroom we heard the door slam. You know the sound. The overall noise in the back of the plane is very intense. Bright lights from the flight attendants in the kitchen. The seats were also not clean, old chocolate from previous people that melted all over the back of our pants. Did I mention we had another 5 hour flight after this one? We didn’t complain though. I just told my husband I’ll write a review. Look, I know it’s first come first served but if you’re gonna do our family like that, the tickets should’ve come at a discount. Our second leg was much better… but the service needs to be consistent and reliable to be my go to airline company.
